Shipping Clerk I
Overview
Process packages for deliveries using UPS and FedEx software. Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment by performing specific duties. This role supports all customers Shipping and Receiving locations while serving as backup driver. It involves comparing identifying information and counting items to verify against records. The position requires maintaining shipping materials inventory and operating flatbed trucks. Responsibilities include routing items, loading systems, planning shipments, and performing light maintenance. The ideal candidate maintains a clean workspace and adheres to safety regulations.
What You'll Do11
- 1Build shipping labels on cartons using stencils and affix them to packages
- 2Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information
- 3Insert items into containers and nail covers on wooden crates
- 4Bind containers with metal tape and stamp packages with identification
- 5Post weights and shipping charges and affix postage
- 6Unpack and examine incoming shipments to reject damaged items
- 7Record shortages and correspond with shippers to resolve issues
- 8Route items to departments and load systems on flatbed trucks
- 9Plan shipments and organize transportation for customer deliveries
- 10Perform light maintenance and cleaning of company owned trucks
- 11Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies
Requirements11
- 15+ years shipping and receiving experience
- 22 years Hi-lo experience
- 3Class B CDL license
- 4High School Diploma or GED
- 5Valid Class B CDL driver's license
- 6Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Dynamics AX
- 7Experience with UPS and FedEx software
- 8Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving boxes
- 9Understanding of safety and environmental regulations
- 10Commitment to regular and predictable attendance
- 11Proven ability to follow detailed procedures
