Shift Manager, Hot Pot Restaurant
Overview
You will own shift operations at a busy Sichuan hot pot restaurant, leading teams of 5-10 employees during peak service. You'll coordinate front-of-house and kitchen staff, manage POS transactions, and resolve customer issues in real time. This role includes structured hands-on training in every front-of-house position before you take full leadership duties. You'll directly impact service speed, order accuracy, and guest satisfaction. What You'll Do10
- 1Supervise opening, service, shift-change, and closing procedures, assigning duties and communicating priorities to ensure smooth operations.
- 2Coordinate between front-of-house and kitchen staff to manage dine-in, takeout, delivery-platform, and phone orders accurately and on time.
- 3Train new employees on service standards, POS operations, food running, packaging, and opening/closing duties, providing hands-on guidance and feedback.
- 4Resolve customer complaints and service issues involving delays, missing items, or incorrect orders, escalating serious concerns to management.
- 5Operate and supervise the POS system, handling refunds, discounts, voids, and register accuracy, reporting discrepancies.
- 6Monitor inventory levels, perform stock counts, and ensure beverage, packaging, and supply restocking to avoid shortages.
- 7Enforce cleanliness and food-safety protocols, including handwashing, sanitation, and temperature control, addressing hazards promptly.
- 8Step into front-of-house positions when needed, demonstrating proficiency in all essential duties and maintaining service standards.
- 9Communicate staffing, operational, or customer concerns to upper management, recommending improvements for efficiency.
- 10Drive service recovery by introducing promotions and specials, enhancing guest experience and repeat business.
Requirements10
- 1Previous restaurant, customer-service, or supervisory experience preferred.
- 2Full-service restaurant experience preferred.
- 3Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- 4Ability to lead employees respectfully while maintaining accountability.
- 5Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy service periods.
- 6Responsible, proactive, dependable, and detail-oriented.
- 7Comfortable handling customer complaints and operational issues.
- 8Comfortable working with POS systems and basic cash-handling procedures.
- 9Willing to learn all essential front-of-house positions.
- 10Available for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed; English required, Mandarin or Spanish a plus.
