Shift Lead, Warehouse & Forklift Operations
Overview
You will own daily front-dock operations for a fast-growing zero-waste company, coordinating 15-25 workers to process inbound and outbound trailers. You will work with the production manager to hit daily quotas while enforcing safety and quality standards. This role includes hands-on coaching of sorters, forklift drivers, and material handlers. You will make a direct environmental impact by helping recycle used cardboard boxes for major brands. What You'll Do10
- 1Plan daily production with the production manager, setting staffing levels and material flow for the shift.
- 2Coach workers on the floor in real time, demonstrating safe and efficient sorting and loading techniques.
- 3Direct forklift drivers, assigning tasks and keeping them coordinated to minimize trailer turnaround time.
- 4Update the production manager every hour on trailer status, flagging delays and adjusting workflow.
- 5Complete load sheets and submit paperwork as trailers finish loading or unloading.
- 6Communicate with OTR drivers at dock 1, providing instructions and documents for each move.
- 7Enforce PPE policies and safety protocols, leading by example and correcting unsafe behavior immediately.
- 8Monitor individual production against quotas, and retrain underperformers on the spot.
- 9Set up tote teams, box sorters, and lid sorters before the end of shift so the next crew starts clean.
- 10Cross-train on shipping and receiving processes to backfill as needed.
Requirements9
- 15+ years of warehouse or manufacturing experience.
- 23+ years of shipping and receiving experience.
- 32+ years of lead or supervisory experience in a production environment.
- 4Forklift Certification required.
- 5High School Diploma or GED.
- 6Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and compliance protocols.
- 7Ability to train new hires on sorting and processing procedures.
- 8Comfortable with physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for full shifts.
- 9Flexible to work Mon-Fri 8am-5pm CT with occasional overtime.
