Shift Lead, Retail Store Operations
Overview
As a Shift Lead, you own store operations during assigned shifts, directing the daily activities of full-time and part-time team members when the Store Manager and Assistant Store Managers are absent. You ensure the store meets company standards for quality, safety, security, and sanitation while providing excellent customer service. You handle opening and closing procedures, cash management, and emergency response, and you escalate issues to Store Management. You act as the first contact for media and regulatory visitors, protecting store property and funds. This role suits a dependable, flexible leader who thrives in a hands-on retail environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Open and close the store according to established procedures, securing property and funds.
- 2Direct and monitor team member activities to maintain store conditions and customer service standards.
- 3Resolve customer complaints, including exchanges and refunds, and document follow-up steps to correct sources.
- 4Conduct front-end administrative tasks: cash counting, till preparation, cash drops, pick-ups, verification, and gift card sales or returns.
- 5Complete electronic store reports and bag or video checks, reporting results to the Store Manager.
- 6Perform cashier duties as needed and escalate employee issues (discipline, cash discrepancies, attendance, performance) to the Store Manager or District Manager.
- 7Receive vendor deliveries, stock all departments, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- 8Handle emergency procedures, including evacuations, and ensure loss prevention protocols are followed.
- 9Manage store sanitation and sweep logs, and serve as first contact for media or regulatory visitors, referring them to the Store Manager.
- 10Participate in panel interviews without hiring authority and work in other departments as assigned.
Requirements10
- 118+ years of age, with a High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2Comprehensive product knowledge and ability to train other team members.
- 3Previous training or supervisory experience is a plus; company work history is considered.
- 4Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- 5English proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking; Spanish or other languages a plus.
- 6Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- 7Dependability and flexibility, with ability to travel to multiple work locations.
- 8Excellent customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- 9Adhere to uniform dress code.
- 10Physical ability: lift 20-50 lbs repeatedly and up to 50-80 lbs at times, stand or walk for extended periods, and work in freezers, coolers, and all weather conditions.
