Shift Lead - Retail Operations
Overview
As a Shift Lead at Walgreens, you own the store's opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and customer experience when management is absent. You coordinate deliveries, manage returns and refunds, and ensure the floor and stock room are ready for business. You'll coach team members on service best practices and maintain accurate inventory, all while supporting a seamless pharmacy operation. This role is your launchpad for leadership in a retail environment with a 30-hour work week.
What You'll Do10
- 1Open and close the store in the absence of management, including system startups and cash handling, using POS and cash register systems.
- 2Handle customer refunds, order voids, and cash drops to the safe, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- 3Coach team members on customer service best practices, modeling a delightful experience at the front end and pharmacy out window.
- 4Oversee vendor deliveries by opening the back door, assisting with the ordering and receiving process, and reconciling order exceptions.
- 5Update product displays and execute resets and revisions, following merchandising plans for promotional and seasonal items.
- 6Maintain accurate inventory counts through cycle counts, stock rotation, and the Outdate program.
- 7Assist with bookkeeping tasks such as cash reports, ledgers, and bill payments, using store systems.
- 8Ensure pricing accuracy and proper signage, complying with regulatory requirements for regulated products.
- 9Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management while ensuring team bag checks before leaving.
- 10Attend training and complete PPLs to maintain certifications like PTCB and meet state requirements.
Requirements7
- 11+ year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder experience.
- 2Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- 3Valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
- 4Working knowledge of store inventory control and POS systems.
- 5Ability to perform bag checks and enforce company policies.
- 6Willingness to complete special assignments and adapt to flexible hours.
