Overview

You own diagnosis and repair of commercial cleaning, restoration, and surface-prep equipment across the Washington, DC region. Repair gas engines, truck-mounted carpet units, portable extractors, and hard surface floor machines. Work with a team of technicians and store staff to meet quality and productivity goals. You excel in a role that values precision, safety, and customer communication.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Diagnose and repair systems on equipment including gas engines, truck-mounted carpet units, and portable extractors.
  • 2Use testing equipment and manuals to troubleshoot and fix Hepa vacuums, air movers, and dehumidifiers.
  • 3Evaluate equipment and communicate additional repair needs to customers and staff.
  • 4Create service orders for incoming equipment and schedule appointments using scheduling software.
  • 5Present repair estimates and bids to customers in person, by phone, and via email.
  • 6Coordinate shop workload with other technicians and order parts from vendors.
  • 7Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and properly use shop tools.
  • 8Assist other technicians and store staff with tasks as needed.
  • 9Meet or exceed service department quality and productivity targets.
  • 10Communicate with customers about repair progress and maintain appointments.

Requirements11

  • 12+ years in commercial cleaning equipment repair, small engine repair, pressure washer repair, or vehicle repair.
  • 2Valid driver license and clean driving record with no DUIs or careless/reckless driving in the last 3 years.
  • 3High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4Own a basic set of mechanic's tools.
  • 5Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills for efficient diagnosis.
  • 6Work safely with safety glasses, hearing protection, and other protective gear.
  • 7Ability to lift 50+ lbs. on a regular basis.
  • 8Good written and oral communication skills with basic computer proficiency.
  • 9Professional appearance and customer service focus.
  • 10Bilingual in English/Spanish is a bonus.
  • 11Occasional overtime required.
