Service Advisor, Trucking & Fleet Maintenance Indianapolis
Overview
Own the service coordination for fleet repairs at Charger Logistics in Indianapolis. You will liaise with drivers, owners, and mechanics to diagnose truck issues and manage repair orders from intake to completion. Work with a team to schedule jobs, track costs, and ensure timely communication with customers. This role emphasizes hands on shop leadership, safety, and continuous improvement in a growing asset-based carrier.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and prioritize repair orders by assessing issues and communicating solutions to drivers and owners with clear cost estimates and timelines
- 2Lead job assignments and supervision to mechanics and parts staff to minimize downtime and maximize throughput
- 3Inspect progress and advise mechanics on work quality, ensuring warranty considerations and parts availability are addressed
- 4Manage tests including road and dyno tests to verify repair quality and complete status
- 5Track each customer job, providing customers with status, costs, and additional repair recommendations
- 6Maintain clean, safe work areas and ensure tools and equipment are properly serviced
- 7Coordinate parts needs with the Parts Department and confirm part availability
- 8Ensure repair orders are accurately coded and billed correctly with all required lines
- 9Prepare work schedules at least 30 minutes before mechanics begin and adjust for workload
- 10Support safe working conditions and willingness to take on additional duties as directed by management
Requirements8
- 1Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required
- 2Minimum 2 years of experience as shop foreman or lead mechanic
- 3Knowledge of truck parts, equipment, and repairs
- 4Experience ordering parts and coordinating service advisor activities is a plus
- 5Knowledge of DOT MTO rules and regulations is a plus
- 6Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve issues promptly
- 7High attention to detail and excellent time management in a fast-paced environment
- 8Commitment to safety and ability to work extended hours as needed
