What You'll Do11

  • 1Perform Medicare compliance reviews and issue Advance Beneficiary Notices of Noncoverage as needed
  • 2Create accurate estimates for patient financial responsibility and collect payments or establish payment plans
  • 3Coordinate with utilization management staff for pre-authorization issues and ensure necessary logistical information
  • 4Contact insurance companies to verify eligibility and benefits obtain pre-authorizations within established timeframes
  • 5Register patients for all services ensuring accuracy and minimizing duplication of medical records
  • 6Collect critical demographic information from patients and confirm insurance details
  • 7Provide timely coverage for PBX switchboard answering phones and transferring calls
  • 8Perform cashiering functions such as collections and cash reconciliation accurately
  • 9Attend department meetings and promote positive dialogue within the team
  • 10Provide coverage for PBX (Switchboard) as needed including answering phones and transferring calls

Requirements11

  • 1Mature judgment in dealing with patients physicians and insurance representatives
  • 2Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs
  • 3Ability to operate general office machines such as computer fax machine printer and scanner
  • 4Ability to effectively learn and perform multiple tasks and organize work systematically and efficiently
  • 5Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and written
  • 6Ability to adapt in ever-changing healthcare environment
  • 7Ability to follow complex instructions and procedures with close attention to detail
  • 8Adheres to government guidelines such as CMS EMTALA and HIPAA and corporate policies
  • 9Understanding of HIPAA privacy rules and ability to use discretion when discussing confidential patient information
  • 10Knowledge of computer programs and electronic health record programs
  • 11Basic knowledge of medical terminology
