Overview
Own Windows Server production operations for a ~95% Windows environment hosting mission-critical applications in AWS GovCloud. As the senior technical owner, you will independently run incident response, root-cause analysis, and patching, ensuring availability during business hours and through on-call rotation. Collaborate with a small team of engineers and mentor junior staff while driving automation with Terraform, Ansible, and DevSecOps practices. This role stands out for its dual focus on Windows operations and Kubernetes troubleshooting in a federal setting.
What You'll Do8
- 1Administer production Windows Server systems, handling maintenance, patching, hardening, and recovery to sustain uptime during business hours.
- 2Lead incident response and drive deep-dive root-cause analysis across Windows, cloud, and container platforms.
- 3Engineer secure cloud infrastructure with AWS GovCloud, designing and implementing scalable architectures for Windows and Linux systems.
- 4Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible to provision and configure environments, supplementing Windows operations and Kubernetes troubleshooting.
- 5Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps automation aligned with federal best practices.
- 6Design monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to establish performance baselines and ensure system availability.
- 7Enforce security best practices, including IAM and system hardening, to meet federal compliance standards.
- 8Document runbooks and SOPs, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers across DevOps practices.
Requirements8
- 110+ years of IT/engineering experience, including senior-level Windows Server operations and 3+ years in cloud engineering.
- 2Strong hands-on Windows Server administration: production support, troubleshooting, patching, and recovery, with ability to perform at senior level from day one.
- 3Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and independently resolve after-hours incidents.
- 4Hands-on experience with AWS GovCloud.
- 5Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD PUBLIC TRUST clearance; active clearance preferred.
- 6U.S. citizenship or Green Card status required.
- 7Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; Master's may substitute for experience.
- 8Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with strong communication and technical leadership abilities.
