Senior Systems Engineer, JPALS & GPS/PNT
Overview
You will own requirements definition and evolution for the JPALS system, a GPS-based landing system in demanding operational settings. You will derive and maintain system and subsystem requirements from customer specs and operational concepts, ensuring traceability and consistency across hardware, software, and interfaces. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and systems engineering leads, you will drive clarity out of complexity. You will use DOORS and DXL to automate documentation processes. This role offers the chance to grow your expertise in GPS/PNT and MBSE within a mission-critical aerospace program.
What You'll Do8
- 1Elicit and derive system and subsystem requirements for JPALS and adjacent programs from customer specifications and operational concepts.
- 2Analyze stakeholder needs and transform them into technical, testable, and feasible requirements.
- 3Apply systems thinking to ensure requirements completeness, consistency, and proper allocation across hardware, software, and interfaces.
- 4Develop and maintain requirements in IBM Rational DOORS, including traceability and change impact assessment.
- 5Create and use DXL scripts to automate documentation import/export to and from DOORS across multiple formats.
- 6Define and document system and subsystem interfaces, contributing to ICDs and architecture artifacts.
- 7Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and requirement change assessments.
- 8Support verification planning by defining verification methods and collaborating with test teams.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, with a degree in STEM.
- 2Proficiency with IBM Rational DOORS and requirements management best practices.
- 3Proficiency with DOORS DXL scripting.
- 4Familiarity with GPS/PNT systems.
- 5Experience with systems engineering activities: requirement derivation, interface definition, allocation, integration, requirement sell-off, analysis, test procedure development, test execution, and results evaluation.
- 6Familiarity with generating and maintaining technical documentation such as specifications, ICDs, TRDs, and VCRMs.
- 7Proficiency with digital engineering tools: DOORS, Cameo, Microsoft Office Suite, Jira, Confluence.
- 8Active DoD Secret security clearance.
