Senior Staff Software Engineer SDN Architecture
Overview
Crusoe seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer to drive the software-defined networking stack enabling AI-first cloud infrastructure. This role involves designing high-performance networking solutions for massive GPU clusters while collaborating across product hardware and infrastructure teams.
What You'll Do9
- 1Design and build high-performance networking solutions optimized for AI and HPC workloads
- 2Author architecture documents and lead discussions in technical decision-making processes
- 3Optimize Linux kernel modules and high-performance drivers using XDP eBPF AF_XDP and DPDK
- 4Implement network fabrics for GPU-to-GPU communications and high-speed Ethernet clusters
- 5Integrate virtualization features such as SR-IOV vDPA and smart NICs into the networking stack
- 6Evaluate emerging SDN and NFV technologies and contribute to open-source projects
- 7Mentor engineers through design reviews and code analysis
- 8Partner with cross-functional teams to deploy and manage architecture implementations
- 9Troubleshoot production issues and perform performance tuning to maximize throughput and reduce latency
Requirements11
- 15+ years building and operating large-scale networking systems in production
- 2Strong SDN and NFV expertise with systems programming skills in C C++ Go or Rust
- 3Deep knowledge of Linux kernel internals memory management network stack and device drivers
- 4Hands-on experience with kernel bypass techniques including XDP eBPF AF_XDP and DPDK
- 5Familiarity with SmartNICs and accelerators such as ConnectX-6 BlueField-3 or IPUs
- 6Experience with network virtualization fabrics Spine-Leaf BGP EVPN VXLAN and tools like OVS OVN
- 7Proficiency in SR-IOV and vDPA for data plane debugging
- 8Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or related field
- 9Open-source contributions to networking projects like OVS OVN Cilium or Multus
- 10Physical network deployment experience and orchestration tooling knowledge
- 11Advanced experience building GPU training networking stacks at scale
