As the primary NDB SME, this role drives upgrades, migrations, and backup/recovery strategies. The position bridges SQL Server operations and Nutanix infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 production support. This role offers direct impact on mission-critical systems, with a focus on automation and proactive monitoring.
What You'll Do10
- 1Manage and support enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
- 2Serve as primary SME for Nutanix Database Services (NDB), configuring and maintaining database clones and snapshots.
- 3Perform performance tuning and query optimization using SQL Profiler and Index Tuning Advisor.
- 4Lead upgrades and migrations of SQL Server instances, including cross-platform moves to Nutanix.
- 5Design and implement backup and recovery strategies using SQL Server backup tools and NDB.
- 6Automate routine DBA tasks using PowerShell scripts to reduce manual intervention.
- 7Provide 24/7 production support for critical database systems, resolving outages and performance issues.
- 8Collaborate with developers to review and optimize stored procedures and database schemas.
- 9Document database configurations, runbooks, and incident resolutions for knowledge sharing.
- 10Monitor database health and capacity, proactively addressing potential issues.
Requirements10
- 15+ years hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in an enterprise environment.
- 2Expertise with Nutanix Database Services (NDB) including provisioning, cloning, and lifecycle management.
- 3Strong knowledge of SQL Server high availability options: Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and log shipping.
- 4Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and monitoring.
- 5Experience with performance tuning, index optimization, and query plan analysis.
- 6Solid understanding of backup and recovery strategies using Commvault or similar tools.
- 7Experience migrating SQL Server workloads to Nutanix or other hyperconverged infrastructure.
- 8Knowledge of ITAR compliance and security best practices for database management.
- 9Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues under pressure.
- 10Excellent communication and documentation skills.
