Senior Software Engineer, Embedded C++ & Munitions
Overview
You will lead embedded software development for advanced munitions programs in a defense organization. You will own technical execution across multiple contracts, from design through integration and test. You will split your time between hands-on coding and technical leadership, mentoring engineers and coordinating with cross-functional teams. This role offers direct impact on weapon systems and requires U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
What You'll Do8
- 1Lead embedded software development for munitions programs, delivering features from design to integration.
- 2Design and implement real-time embedded systems using Embedded C++ and RTOS or bare-metal.
- 3Drive software verification planning, execution, and test automation to ensure quality and safety.
- 4Manage software schedules, estimates, and technical execution, monitoring cost and performance metrics.
- 5Support formal customer milestone reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR.
- 6Coordinate software architecture reviews and design approvals, ensuring compliance with CMMI and lifecycle processes.
- 7Mitigate project risks and issues, and collaborate with cybersecurity stakeholders for RMF and ATO requirements.
- 8Mentor engineering team members and present technical status to leadership and customers.
Requirements8
- 15+ years in embedded software development with Embedded C++ and RTOS or bare-metal systems.
- 23+ years leading technical projects and small teams, with Earned Value Management System experience.
- 3Expertise in requirements analysis, software architecture, design, integration, and testing of complex systems.
- 4U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
- 5Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM discipline.
- 6Experience with weapon systems, munitions, or combat vehicles.
- 7Knowledge of CMMI and software lifecycle processes, plus cybersecurity fundamentals like RMF and ATO.
- 8Familiarity with Ethernet communications and subcontracted software development oversight.
