
Embedded Software Engineer, Real-Time Systems & C++
Overview
You will own embedded software development for a mission-critical defense program in Chandler, Arizona. You will design, code, and test real-time computer software using C++ and Python, integrating with Linux and VxWorks environments. You will collaborate with a multi-discipline team to drive requirements through architecture, implementation, and verification. This role requires an active Secret Clearance and offers direct impact on fielded systems.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design and implement real-time embedded software modules in C++ and C for VxWorks and Linux platforms.
- 2Develop and execute unit tests using Google Test to validate code functionality and performance.
- 3Integrate software components with CAN and 1553 bus interfaces for data communication.
- 4Debug and resolve software defects using GDB and JTAG debuggers in a lab environment.
- 5Drive requirements analysis and architecture design, producing detailed design documents for UML-based models.
- 6Collaborate with systems and hardware engineers to define interface control documents for MIL-STD-1553 and CAN.
- 7Optimize software performance to meet real-time constraints on bare-metal and RTOS platforms.
- 8Support integration testing with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations for flight or vehicle systems.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of embedded software development experience with C++ and C.
- 23+ years working with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or RTEMS.
- 32+ years experience with board bring-up, device drivers, and JTAG debugging.
- 4Strong knowledge of UML and SysML for software architecture modeling.
- 5Experience with CAN, MIL-STD-1553, or ARINC 429 communication protocols.
- 6Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 7Active Secret Clearance required.
- 8Experience with agile development methodologies and version control tools like Git.
