Overview
We seek a Senior Platform Engineer to architect and manage hybrid infrastructure at System One. This full-time position supports the Enterprise Hosting Services team in developing secure innovative hybrid infrastructure for a critical federal institution. The role involves designing deploying and maintaining AWS GovCloud and on-premises platforms while enabling emerging AI capabilities and containerized workloads.
What You'll Do13
- 1Design implement and maintain hybrid infrastructure spanning AWS GovCloud and on-premises data centers ensuring compliance with federal security standards
- 2Manage Kubernetes fleet operations across AWS EKS on-premises Mirantis Kubernetes Engine and VMware vSphere with Kubernetes
- 3Lead application modernization initiatives migrating and optimizing workloads across cloud and on-premises environments
- 4Administer and optimize hypervisor clusters VMware vSphere and ESXi for enterprise workloads
- 5Manage Splunk infrastructure for centralized logging monitoring and security analytics
- 6Implement comprehensive audit logging monitoring and observability solutions across hybrid environments
- 7Support security engineering initiatives including vulnerability management compliance automation and security hardening
- 8Support emerging AI ML capabilities and cloud-native solutions
- 9Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- 10Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment using Jira for project management
- 11Ensure systems meet NIST 800-53 and FISMA compliance requirements
- 12Automate operational tasks and improve platform reliability across both cloud and on-premises infrastructure
- 13Contribute to architectural decisions and hybrid cloud strategy

- 15+ years building ETL pipelines with Spark and Airflow
- 2AWS GovCloud and on-premises data center experience
- 3Kubernetes fleet management experience (EKS Mirantis VKS)
- 4VMware vSphere administration and cluster management
- 5Splunk administration and enterprise log management
- 6Knowledge of NIST 800-53 controls and FISMA compliance frameworks
- 7Experience with security engineering audit logging and monitoring tools
- 8Application modernization and containerization experience
- 9Experience with AI ML infrastructure and services
- 10GitLab and Jira experience
- 11AWS certifications (Solutions Architect SysOps Administrator or DevOps Engineer)
- 12VMware or Kubernetes certifications (CKA CKAD)
- 13Experience in financial services or federal government environments
