What You'll Do9

  • 1Carry out design and development activities that transition R&D prototypes into finished products, focusing on mechanical systems for defense and commercial clients.
  • 2Manage configuration control across Midé's product lines, using PDM and DDM systems to track revisions and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
  • 3Review and revise design documents and BOMs as required by ECO/ECR processes, driving accuracy and traceability.
  • 4Create and maintain complete product-level drawing packages, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018, ensuring alignment with ITAR, EAR, and SBIR constraints.
  • 5Work with production and quality teams to develop manufacturing documentation that guarantees repeatable quality, applying DFM/DFA principles.
  • 6Participate in design reviews to optimize tolerancing, BOM organization, and manufacturing methods, reducing production costs and lead times.
  • 7Plan and execute test plans for environmental, vibration, shock, and functional testing, documenting results and suggesting design modifications.
  • 8Collaborate daily with mechanical, electrical, and software teams, as well as quality, production, and customer support, to resolve issues and implement improvements.
  • 9Drive continuous improvement by analyzing root causes of failures and implementing corrective actions in SolidWorks and PDM environments.

Requirements10

  • 15+ years in product engineering, sustaining engineering, or manufacturing engineering, with a focus on mechanical systems.
  • 2Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks (PDM/DDM experience preferred) and MS Office Suite.
  • 4In-depth knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018 and dimensional standards.
  • 5Hands-on experience managing ECO/ECR processes and obtaining stakeholder approval.
  • 6Demonstrated ability to develop and execute test plans for environmental, vibration, shock, and functional testing.
  • 7Strong understanding of machining and manufacturing processes, with a focus on design for manufacturability.
  • 8Basic statistical knowledge to support SPC data creation and analysis.
  • 9U.S. citizenship required (ITAR compliance).
  • 10Excellent problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis of complex systems.
