Senior Java Backend Engineer, IAM & Microservices
Overview
You will design and build secure, distributed microservices for our enterprise IAM platform, handling millions of authentication requests daily. Your stack includes Java, Spring Security, and OAuth 2.0, integrated with identity providers like Okta and Ping Identity. You'll join a team of 8 engineers in Dallas, Texas, working on-site to harden our authentication and authorization infrastructure. This role stands out because you'll drive IAM architecture decisions from day one, not just implement tickets.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design and implement scalable microservices for authentication and authorization using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring high availability and low latency.
- 2Integrate our systems with enterprise identity providers like Okta and Ping Identity, implementing SAML 2.0 and OIDC flows.
- 3Build and maintain OAuth 2.0 and JWT -based token services, including token validation, refresh, and revocation.
- 4Lead the migration of legacy authentication modules to modern IAM protocols, reducing technical debt in the first quarter.
- 5Collaborate with security engineers to enforce compliance with FIDO2 and WebAuthn standards for passwordless authentication.
- 6Debug and resolve production issues related to identity and access, ensuring system reliability and security.
- 7Drive code reviews and set best practices for secure coding within the backend team.
- 8Automate deployment of IAM services using Kubernetes and Docker, improving release efficiency.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of backend development experience with Java and Spring framework.
- 23+ years of hands-on experience with IAM protocols: OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC, and JWT.
- 32+ years working with enterprise identity providers like Okta, Ping Identity, or Azure AD.
- 4Deep understanding of Spring Security and implementing custom authentication filters.
- 5Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) for user data storage.
- 6Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized deployments in a production environment.
- 7Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8Proficiency with Git and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
