Senior Software Engineer, Java & Microservices
Overview
You will own the design and delivery of Java 17/21 microservices powering a financial services platform. You'll collaborate with a cross-functional team to build Spring Boot and Spring Cloud APIs, and drive architectural decisions. This hybrid role in Charlotte, NC or Irving, TX offers an 18-month contract with extension potential. You'll make an immediate impact by modernizing legacy systems into resilient, cloud-native services.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design and implement Java 17/21 microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud to replace legacy monoliths.
- 2Develop REST APIs with robust error handling, validation, and security, and document them using OpenAPI.
- 3Architect event-driven flows using Kafka or RabbitMQ to support asynchronous processing and scalability.
- 4Build and deploy containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance.
- 5Implement observability with Prometheus and Grafana for real-time monitoring and alerting.
- 6Drive code quality through JUnit and Testcontainers for integration testing, and enforce CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins.
- 7Mentor junior engineers on Java best practices and design patterns.
- 8Collaborate with product owners to translate requirements into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with Agile processes.
Requirements8
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on Java and Spring Boot.
- 23+ years designing and building REST APIs and microservices in production.
- 3Strong experience with Spring Cloud, including service discovery, config, and gateway components.
- 4Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
- 5Familiarity with Kafka or RabbitMQ for messaging and event streaming.
- 6Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
- 7Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- 8Excellent problem-solving skills and communication abilities, with a track record of collaborating in hybrid teams.
