Senior Generator Field Technician, Miami
Overview
Own service operations for industrial generators and switchgear across Miami, leading a team of technicians to deliver Generac certified repair and maintenance. You will train and develop assigned service staff, implement QC programs, and serve as the primary technical escalation point for field emergencies. This role combines hands-on generator expertise with leadership, reporting to the Service Manager and partnering with the Service Director on staffing and performance. You will drive continuous improvement and ensure safety compliance across your territory, with after-hours support as needed.
What You'll Do10
- 1Supervise and direct assigned service technicians, assigning work and ensuring quality outcomes.
- 2Coach and develop technicians through feedback and training programs to improve technical knowledge.
- 3Identify field support mentors and assign them to provide hands-on guidance to less experienced staff.
- 4Partner with the Service Director to resolve performance issues and determine staffing needs for the territory.
- 5Serve as first point of contact for phone and field support, including troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and parts delivery, escalating complex cases.
- 6Conduct preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, startup, troubleshooting, and repair of generators and related equipment.
- 7Lead safety initiatives and enforce safety protocols for all technicians in your geography, ensuring compliance.
- 8Execute QC programs and work with the Technical Service Manager to document and improve procedures.
- 9Support planning and quoting of complex service projects and assist the Service Director with Generac warranty administration.
- 10Drive continuous improvement of field operations and provide customer-focused support to resolve concerns.
Requirements9
- 1Generac Master Technician certification or equivalent required.
- 2High level of expertise with switchgear and industrial generator systems.
- 35+ years of hands-on experience in generator service and repair, with leadership exposure.
- 4Ability to manage a team of technicians and provide clear direction.
- 5Strong organizational, computer, and communication skills, including intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency.
- 6Fluency in written and spoken English, with ability to read safety rules and procedure manuals.
- 7Willingness to travel overnight occasionally and provide after-hours emergency response.
- 8Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
- 9Valid driver's license and ability to pass a DOT physical and background check.
