Senior Estimator & Assistant Manager, Cost Estimating
Overview
You own the cost estimating delivery for Becker & Frondorf, a specialized construction consulting firm, producing conceptual budgets and detailed estimates across all design phases. You run the estimating team day-to-day with the Department VP, allocating workloads and mentoring staff. You step in as acting lead when leadership is unavailable, and you support business development and proposals. This role blends deep technical estimating expertise with management, offering a clear path to grow as a leader.
What You'll Do7
- 1Prepare complete conceptual, schematic, design development, and detailed construction document cost estimates using Togal.AI and Microsoft tools
- 2Analyze drawings, narratives, and specifications to define project scope, assumptions, and cost risks
- 3Reconcile estimates with contractors during bid reviews and value engineering sessions
- 4Act as the department lead when senior leadership is unavailable, driving daily operations and client communication
- 5Support senior leadership on proposal development and new business initiatives
- 6Mentor and technically review the work of junior estimators, providing guidance on methodology and accuracy
- 7Maintain strong client relationships, managing multiple deadlines with professionalism and precision
Requirements7
- 15-8 years of experience as a conceptual cost estimator across all design phases
- 2Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field
- 3Deep understanding of construction costs, building systems, and current market conditions
- 4Proficiency with Microsoft suite and cost estimating software
- 5Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships and deadlines with professionalism and accuracy
- 6Experience with Togal.AI takeoff software (preferred)
- 7Professional certifications such as ASPE, LEED, or AIA (preferred)
Salary Insight
$115 - $130k per year
