Senior Director of Event Travel, Global Operations
Overview
Navan seeks a Senior Director to lead its global Event Travel operations, spanning online platform-enabled travel and offline high-touch group-air services. You will own the strategy, operating model, and performance for event-air across Navan and Reed & Mackay. Unify siloed teams into one high-performing unit, driving operational excellence and expanding platform adoption. This role requires dissolving legacy boundaries, building a cohesive culture, and partnering with Product and Engineering to rebuild workflows on Navan infrastructure. Success means delivering world-class service while scaling technology and growing talent.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead a global organization of directors, managers, team leads, travel consultants, and coordinators, fostering a high-performance culture.
- 2Unify Navan and Reed & Mackay teams under one operating model, dissolving silos and leveraging Navan technology with Reed & Mackay expertise.
- 3Own service quality, commercial performance, and workforce planning, driving operational transformation and partnering with Product and Engineering to rebuild offline workflows on Navan infrastructure.
- 4Define and implement the target operating model for Event Travel, documenting the people, processes, and systems that deliver global service.
- 5Structure a global service delivery function using consistent tools and processes while empowering local decision-making and experience.
- 6Expand the capabilities and adoption of Navan's event-travel platform, preserving specialist service for complex, high-value, and high-risk travel programs.
- 7Drive automation and scale by ensuring the tech stack enables operational growth, acting as an agent of change for platform and technology.
- 8Present a positive front to the team while providing honest, clear communication to leadership about challenges and costs to fix them.
- 9Measure and manage performance improvement continuously, raising the bar for client delivery through data-driven decisions.
- 10Build a unified, high-performing team that works together seamlessly across geographies and functions.
Requirements8
- 110+ years managing distributed travel operations teams across spans and layers.
- 2Commercial ownership experience with operating budget, gross margin/contribution margin, forecasting, pricing, capacity forecasting, cost-to-serve, and productivity.
- 3Track record of building Product and Operations partnerships that produced measurable improvements in automation, service, and profitability.
- 4Data-driven and disciplined about operating performance, with a focus on metrics.
- 5Thorough knowledge of the travel industry, fares, suppliers, and markets.
- 6Familiarity with air booking tools and fulfillment systems.
- 7Skilled at leading through organizational and technology change.
- 8Proven ability to unify teams with different tech stacks and processes into a single, high-performing unit.
