
Senior Critical Facilities Engineer, Data Center Operations
Overview
You will own uptime for mission-critical data center infrastructure at a 300 MW campus, ensuring 99.999% availability. You will lead a team of 4 technicians and coordinate with HVAC and electrical vendors. This role stands out for its direct impact on cloud service reliability and access to advanced monitoring tools.
What You'll Do8
- 1Drive root cause analysis for critical infrastructure incidents and implement corrective actions within 48 hours.
- 2Lead maintenance windows for UPS systems, generators, and switchgear, coordinating cross-functional teams.
- 3Design and implement capacity upgrades for power and cooling systems to support server growth.
- 4Own vendor management for CMMS work orders, ensuring SLAs are met with 95% compliance.
- 5Develop standard operating procedures for emergency response and train staff on safety protocols.
- 6Partner with facilities and IT teams to align infrastructure changes with business needs.
- 7Monitor BMS and EPMS alerts, escalating critical alarms and verifying restoration within 15 minutes.
- 8Conduct quarterly audits of electrical and mechanical systems, documenting risk and remediation plans.
Requirements8
- 17+ years in critical facility operations, with 3+ years in a senior or lead role.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade experience.
- 3Hands-on experience with UPS, generators, HVAC, and cooling systems in a data center.
- 4Certified in NFPA 70E and OSHA 30 for electrical safety.
- 5Proven ability to manage vendor contracts and budgets up to $2M.
- 6Working knowledge of BMS and EPMS platforms such as Schneider or Siemens.
- 7Experience with change management processes in 24/7 environments.
- 8Strong communication skills for incident reporting and executive updates.
