We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design AI agents that handle the B2B commerce lifecycle including Product Discovery Pricing & Quoting Order Automation Fulfillment & Delivery and Post-Sale Support. This role focuses on building intelligent agents in Go on Google ADK with Gemini while ensuring trustworthiness through rigorous evaluation practices.
What You'll Do8
- 1Design, build and iterate on AI agents in Go/Python using an orchestrator/sub-agent architecture covering intent interpretation delegation and safe action execution
- 2Own eval-driven development by building and maintaining golden datasets scorers and regression suites for metrics like discovery recall and quote accuracy
- 3Develop and refine prompts and model configurations treating them as versioned tested artifacts
- 4Integrate agents with MCP servers and backend tools defining safe tool-call contracts approval flows for write actions and guardrails against prompt injection
- 5Instrument agents with tracing metrics and cost tracking using production signals to drive quality improvements
- 6Collaborate with product designers and frontend engineers to deliver intuitive conversational experiences
- 7Quickly build proof-of-concept agents to validate user stories then harden them to GA quality
- 8Drive architecture decisions on ambiguous problems and mentor other engineers in agent engineering practices
Requirements13
- 15+ years of experience in backend or full-stack software development with hands-on experience building agentic AI/LLM applications
- 2Strong development skills in Go Python Ruby or PHP
- 3Proven experience working with LLMs such as Gemini Anthropic or OpenAI in production systems
- 4Expertise in LLM evaluation building datasets defining scorers and using eval results to drive iteration
- 5Deep understanding of prompt engineering tool/function calling and agent orchestration patterns
- 6Extensive experience designing and building APIs gRPC GraphQL REST and integrating data across systems
- 7Hands-on experience building MCP servers or LLM tool integrations
- 8Excellent problem-solving skills in fast-paced exploratory environments
- 9Strong collaboration and communication abilities in cross-functional teams
- 10Preference for experience with agent frameworks like Google ADK LangChain/LangGraph or Semantic Kernel
- 11Familiarity with evaluation/observability platforms such as Braintrust LangSmith or similar
- 12Background in RAG systems retrieval quality tuning or e-commerce SaaS product development
- 13Experience with conversational AI or natural language processing
