Senior Associate Corporate Accounting at Ares
Overview
You will own accounting for carried interest and performance fees across Private Equity, Real Assets, and Secondaries, reporting on significant fee streams at Ares Management Corporation. You will work with ASC 323 and ASC 606 to classify revenue, reconcile carry balances, and deliver management reporting. Partnering with fund accounting, tax, and investor relations, you will strengthen SOX controls and drive automation. This role offers a clear path to own additional revenue streams as you master the work.
What You'll Do10
- 1Account for carried interest allocations to the general partner under relevant accounting guidelines for Private Equity, Real Assets, and Secondaries.
- 2Perform accounting research and reach conclusions on classification of performance fee revenue under ASC 323 and ASC 606.
- 3Reconcile all carry balances on a timely basis for month and quarter end closes.
- 4Analyze performance fee income and present significant drivers and changes through clear management reporting.
- 5Partner with Ares leadership, fund accounting, tax, and investor relations on fee-related matters.
- 6Ensure the control environment complies with SOX 404 program requirements.
- 7Account for agency fee allocations between management company and funds using investment reporting systems.
- 8Manage accounting, reconciliation, and analysis of management fee revenue.
- 9Assess and document current accounting processes, benchmarking against best practices and directing IT to implement automation.
- 10Support special projects including capital transactions, acquisitions, and process improvements.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
- 2CPA certification required.
- 34+ years of progressive accounting experience in public or financial services.
- 4Exposure to investment management, fund accounting, and SEC reporting strongly preferred.
- 5Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to see the big picture.
- 6Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- 7Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective courses of action.
- 8Excellent communication and writing skills.
