Senior Android Developer, Native Mobile & Kotlin
Overview
Android developer will own large-scale mobile features across the full lifecycle, from design to deployment. You will join a team of 12 engineers, split between Miami and Bangalore, shipping Kotlin-based apps used by millions. This role pairs deep technical work with mentorship of junior developers. You will bring 5+ years of native Android experience and a track record of leading releases.
What You'll Do9
- 1Ship new features in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for our flagship app within the first 90 days.
- 2Own the architecture of at least two core modules, improving performance and reducing crash rate.
- 3Lead code reviews and technical design discussions, setting standards for the team.
- 4Collaborate with Product and Design to convert requirements into technical specs.
- 5Coordinate with the Bangalore team to align on API contracts and release schedules.
- 6Optimize app startup and memory usage using Android Profiler and Memory Profiler.
- 7Implement CI/CD pipelines with Bitrise to automate build and test on every commit.
- 8Debug and fix production issues reported via Firebase Crashlytics, prioritizing by impact.
- 9Mentor two junior developers through pair programming and structured feedback.
Requirements8
- 15+ years building Android apps with Java and Kotlin.
- 2Strong expertise in Android SDK, Jetpack Compose, and Coroutines.
- 3Experience with RESTful APIs and GraphQL integration.
- 4Proven ability to architect scalable apps using MVVM and Clean Architecture.
- 5Familiarity with Gradle build system and Kotlin DSL.
- 6Experience with CI/CD tools like Bitrise or GitHub Actions.
- 7Excellent communication and mentoring skills, with a global team mindset.
- 8Local to Miami, FL, available for 4 days onsite per week.
