Senior Android Developer, Shipboard App
Overview
You will own the development of a shipboard application for a major travel company, serving thousands of daily users. You will join a collaborative team of developers and report to an engineering lead. This role stands out because it offers a 6-month contract-to-hire path and expects you to coach peers while building with Android SDK and Kotlin.
What You'll Do6
- 1Build high-performance features for the shipboard app using Kotlin and Android SDK.
- 2Coach and mentor junior developers, guiding them on best practices for MVVM and Jetpack Compose.
- 3Design offline-first experiences with Room and WorkManager for cruise environments with limited connectivity.
- 4Integrate with RESTful APIs to fetch real-time passenger and crew data.
- 5Debug and resolve memory leaks and ANRs across multiple device form factors.
- 6Drive code reviews to maintain clean architecture and testability with JUnit and Espresso.
Requirements7
- 15+ years of Android development experience with Kotlin and Java.
- 2Proven track record of shipping complex, high-quality mobile apps.
- 3Experience leading or coaching other developers in a team setting.
- 4Strong knowledge of Android SDK, Gradle, and Material Design.
- 5Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and Retrofit.
- 6Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- 7Ability to work onsite in Miami, FL 4 days per week.
