You will own science instruction for secondary students in Bronx, NY, delivering biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science lessons to 150+ students across 3-5 class periods daily. What You'll Do7
- 1Design and deliver lesson plans that map to NY State science standards, covering biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science for grades 7-12.
- 2Run weekly lab experiments and demonstrations using probes, microscopes, and simulation software to boost student engagement.
- 3Assess student progress through quizzes, lab reports, and projects, then adjust teaching tactics to close gaps.
- 4Provide written and verbal feedback on assignments within 48 hours to guide student improvement.
- 5Maintain a safe lab environment, enforcing OSHA protocols and proper chemical handling.
- 6Partner with SPED teachers to adapt materials for IEP and 504 students, ensuring every learner reaches mastery.
- 7Lead one after-school science club or STEM enrichment session each semester.
Requirements8
- 13+ years teaching secondary science, including student teaching experience.
- 2Active New York State teaching license in Science (Grades 7-12).
- 3Strong grasp of NGSS framework and inquiry-based instruction.
- 4Experience with Google Classroom, Blackboard, or similar LMS for assignments and grading.
- 5Ability to differentiate lessons for English learners and students with IEPs.
- 6Bachelor's degree in Science, Education, or a related field.
- 7Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- 8Certified in CPR and AED (preferred).
