Overview

You will own science instruction for a middle school classroom, guiding students through NGSS-aligned curricula in climate systems, matter and energy, and molecular biology. You will collaborate with a grade-level team and receive weekly coaching to refine your teaching practice. What You'll Do10

  • 1Design and deliver NGSS-aligned lessons covering climate and Earth's systems, the cosmos, matter and energy transformations, electricity and magnetism, and molecular and ecological systems.
  • 2Develop students' skills in questioning, modeling, constructing explanations, data analysis, argumentation, and planning interactive labs.
  • 3Foster confidence and engagement in science through inquiry-based learning and real-world connections.
  • 4Meet weekly with your principal or instructional coach to analyze student work and assessment trends, adjusting instruction accordingly.
  • 5Implement differentiated strategies to support all learners, including those with varying readiness levels.
  • 6Build strong, positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
  • 7Partner with families to provide resources that support each child's learning needs.
  • 8Participate in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
  • 9Engage in weekly school-wide meetings to build community and reinforce core values.
  • 10Collaborate with your grade-level team to set academic goals and share instructional strategies.

Requirements8

  • 11-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools or communities.
  • 2Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university before employment starts.
  • 4NJ state certification eligibility: final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduates on/after 9/1/16, or 2.75 if graduated prior.
  • 5Commitment to becoming certified in New Jersey within a reasonable period after starting.
  • 6Demonstrated dedication to students' social-emotional and academic growth.
  • 7Enthusiasm for collaborating with internal and external partners for student success.
  • 8Self-directed learner who seeks and implements feedback to improve outcomes.
