What You'll Do9
- 1Plan and deliver NGSS-aligned science lessons to 7th graders, using the school's chosen curriculum to meet academic standards.
- 2Build a positive classroom culture with PBIS strategies, SEL practices, and behavior interventions that keep students engaged.
- 3Teach whole-group and small-group differentiated instruction, and tutor individual students to close learning gaps.
- 4Use assessment data from benchmark tests, exit tickets, and state assessments to adjust instruction and track mastery.
- 5Collaborate with Assistant Principals in weekly data meetings to review student progress and set action plans.
- 6Maintain accurate records on attendance, grades, and IEP goals, and communicate student progress with families.
- 7Model an optimistic growth mindset, using restorative practices to build strong relationships with students.
- 8Participate in professional learning communities and school-wide initiatives to improve instructional quality.
- 9Engage students with hands-on lab experiments and real-world applications of science concepts.
Requirements8
- 1Bachelor's degree required, with a record of personal, professional, or academic achievement.
- 2Pennsylvania teacher certification in General Science (or 7-12 Science) completed or in process.
- 3Active Pennsylvania state clearances and credentials required.
- 41+ years of teaching experience in middle school science preferred.
- 5Demonstrated expertise in life science, earth science, and physical science.
- 6Evidence of student growth in previous teaching roles.
- 7Commitment to underserved communities and alignment with NACS's mission.
- 8Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and work in an environment with moderate noise and weather exposure.
