Elementary Science Teacher, Inquiry-Based STEM Instruction
Overview
You will own inquiry-based science instruction for elementary students at Zeta, a growing NYC charter network serving Bronx, Upper Manhattan, and Queens. You will build a classroom culture that sparks curiosity and a love for learning. You will join a team of educators dedicated to high academic achievement and social-emotional growth. This role offers a path to impact at scale, with 1–2 new schools each year and a first-ever high school opening in 2026-27. You will receive feedback and coaching through weekly professional development and a supportive community.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design inquiry-based science lessons that foster wonder and exploration, using NGSS standards and hands-on experiments.
- 2Build a classroom culture that promotes a genuine love for learning and a sense of community among students and families.
- 3Internalize the Zeta science curriculum and social-emotional learning components, adapting to student needs.
- 4Use data-driven approaches and assessment tools like i-Ready to monitor and drive student growth.
- 5Develop authentic relationships with students and families to support personal and academic growth.
- 6Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in weekly professional development with leaders and colleagues.
- 7Deliver rigorous instruction that prepares students for NY State Science Assessments and future STEM success.
Requirements8
- 11-2+ years of lead teaching experience in elementary science or related field.
- 2Bachelor's degree required, STEM field preferred.
- 3NY teaching certification preferred, but not required.
- 4Proven record of driving student growth and achievement in science.
- 5Experience with inquiry-based and hands-on science instruction.
- 6Ability to build a positive classroom culture and manage student behavior.
- 7Strong collaboration skills and openness to feedback.
