School Psychologist, PreK-22 (Boston Public Schools)
Overview
You will own psychological evaluations and counseling for students ages pre-school through 22 across two Boston schools: Winship and Gardner. You will deliver diagnostic, prescriptive, and remedial services, both individual and group, and consult with teachers and families. You will join a team of over 100 psychologists and report to the Assistant Director of Psychological Services. Your work directly shapes Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and crisis response, with a focus on inclusive, least-restrictive environments. What You'll Do9
- 1Deliver psychological and educational evaluations within district timelines, using standardized instruments to produce reports in English.
- 2Lead Individualized Educational Planning (IEP) meetings to craft comprehensive and compliant educational plans.
- 3Consult with teachers and staff to design strategies that help each student reach potential in the least restrictive setting.
- 4Conduct classroom screenings to guide effective instructional planning.
- 5Provide prevention and counseling services individually and in small groups.
- 6Serve on the crisis response team, providing intervention as needed.
- 7Participate in the AAF Service Team to coordinate wraparound support.
- 8Collaborate with the Office of Special Education and Student Services and school staff to enhance services.
- 9Complete additional duties as directed by the Assistant Director.
Requirements6
- 1Massachusetts license as a School Psychologist
- 2Demonstrated competency in standardized test administration and interpretation
- 3Ability to write reports with appropriate educational goals, generated via computer in English
- 4Preferred: 2+ years in urban settings providing educational and psychological services
- 5Preferred: Licensed Educational Psychologist
- 6Preferred: Fluency in one of BPS official languages: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali
