What You'll Do8
- 1Transport students safely along assigned routes in Howard County, adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.
- 2Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, checking brakes, lights, and tires before each route.
- 3Manage student behavior on the bus using positive reinforcement and clear communication.
- 4Communicate route changes or student incidents to dispatch via radio or phone.
- 5Maintain a clean driving record and comply with drug and alcohol testing policies.
- 6Complete required paperwork including student rosters and incident reports after each trip.
- 7Work with dispatchers and school staff to coordinate pick-up and drop-off schedules.
- 8Assist new drivers with CDL training and orientation as needed.

- 1Maryland driver's license required for CDL training.
- 2Clean driving record and clean criminal background.
- 3Drug-free status and ability to pass a drug screening.
- 4CDL with School Bus and Passenger endorsements preferred but not required to apply.
- 5Ability to work school hours and morning and afternoon routes.
- 6Physical ability to operate a school bus and perform safety inspections.
- 7Must be at least 18 years old (state requirement).
