School Age Program Assistant, After School Care
Overview
You will support the Program Lead in delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate activities for school-age children. You will help maintain a safe, inclusive environment and supervise children under direct oversight, ensuring compliance with Oregon state licensing and VHFLC policies. Working closely with a small team, you will contribute to daily operations, child supervision, and program success. What You'll Do10
- 1Support the Program Lead in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that promote learning, social development, and creativity.
- 2Provide assistance in maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging environment, ensuring all areas meet health and safety standards.
- 3Supervise children at all times under the direct oversight of a qualified Program Lead.
- 4Actively engage with children through play, conversation, and participation in planned activities.
- 5Promote positive behavior guidance and assist in fostering a respectful, inclusive environment.
- 6Support the Program Lead in organizing materials, preparing activities, and managing transitions between activities.
- 7Monitor indoor and outdoor environments to ensure safety, cleanliness, and appropriate use of equipment and materials.
- 8Assist with documenting attendance, incidents, and other program-related records as directed.
- 9Communicate positively and professionally with children, families, and coworkers.
- 10Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
Requirements8
- 118+ years of age.
- 2Meet the initial training requirements established by Oregon state and VHFLC policy, including Orientation and Initial Training.
- 3Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children in a group setting.
- 4Strong communication skills, with the ability to follow direction and collaborate as part of a team.
- 5Understanding of basic principles of child development and positive guidance.
- 6Ability to maintain professionalism, dependability, and confidentiality.
- 7Commitment to supporting a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
- 8Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, kneel, sit on the floor, and move quickly as needed for supervision and safety.
