RF Engineer III, Antenna Systems & Intermodulation Analysis
Overview
You will own intermodulation analyses for antenna systems and components at a Detroit-based wireless infrastructure leader. In your first 90 days, you will drive tradeoff studies for multiple-antenna schemes and link budgets that directly shape system reliability. You join a team of RF engineers and system architects collaborating with hardware, software, and field operations. This contract role offers direct exposure to cutting-edge 5G deployments and the chance to influence next-gen antenna design.
What You'll Do8
- 1Run intermodulation analyses on antenna systems and RF components to identify performance limits.
- 2Calculate efficiency metrics for MIMO and beamforming schemes, then compare tradeoffs in cost, size, and signal quality.
- 3Build link budgets using path loss models and fade margins to assess system reliability.
- 4Drive antenna parameter extraction from simulation and lab measurements for inclusion in system models.
- 5Pinpoint interference sources and recommend filter or layout changes to meet IM specs.
- 6Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to implement antenna tuning strategies.
- 7Ship detailed technical reports and design review presentations to stakeholders.
- 8Debug field performance issues by correlating drive test data with simulation results.
Requirements8
- 15+ years in RF engineering with emphasis on antenna systems and intermodulation.
- 2Bachelor's degree in EE, physics, or related field; Master's preferred.
- 3Proficiency in HFSS, CST, or ADS for electromagnetic simulation.
- 4Hands-on experience with network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
- 5Solid grasp of link budget calculations and fade margin analysis.
- 6Track record running intermodulation tests and mitigating IM products.
- 7Familiarity with 5G NR and MIMO systems.
- 8Ability to interpret antenna radiation patterns and impedance data.
