Overview

As an RF/EMC Engineer at Alarm.com, you'll own RF performance and EMC compliance testing for cutting-edge security and life-safety devices. You will work hands-on with LTE, Cat-M, NB-IoT, WiFi, Bluetooth, and LoRa in a lab-focused role. Your work directly shapes the quality of hardware designs in a rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial environment. This role offers the chance to drive certification workflows and optimize test capabilities using AI tools.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Plan and execute RF performance and EMC pre-compliance tests per specs and regulatory standards (FCC, ISED, CE/RED).
  • 2Complete RF measurements: TRP/TIS, conducted power/spectrum, and radiated/conducted emissions to ensure high performance.
  • 3Troubleshoot and optimize RF performance and EMC compliance of multi-radio hardware.
  • 4Own certification workflows: prepare samples, develop test instructions, and witness external lab testing.
  • 5Document and analyze test results, presenting findings to design and program teams.
  • 6Expand test capabilities using AI and software tools to increase efficiency.
  • 7Operate independently while aligning with senior management on priorities and goals.

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field with RF/EMC background.
  • 22-3 years hands-on RF/EMC testing and interpreting results against pass/fail criteria.
  • 3Familiarity with wireless protocols: cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth, sub-GHz.
  • 4Experience troubleshooting RF performance issues and EMC compliance failures.
  • 5Ability to read electronic schematics.
  • 6Experience with lab equipment: oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, vector network analyzer, signal generator, cellular tester.
  • 7Strong attention to detail and rigor in testing wireless devices.
  • 8Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • 9Bonus: regulatory certification experience (FCC, ISED, CE/RED), antenna matching, Python scripting, HW design, Ansys SIwave/HFSS simulation, Master's degree.
