Retail Donor Specialist - Materials Handler
Overview
You own the donor experience and backroom flow at our North Nolensville Pike store, processing 1,000+ donations weekly. You greet donors, guide drop-offs, and keep the Donation Express Center running safely and efficiently. You work with a team of 10 and report to store leadership, balancing customer warmth with material handling. This role supports Goodwill's mission by turning donations into jobs and training.
What You'll Do8
- 1Greet donors within 30 seconds of arrival and issue donation receipts for every drop-off.
- 2Unload cars and stage donations on the dock, sorting by category for production.
- 3Load trailers with baled textiles and racks, securing loads per OSHA standards.
- 4Operate pallet jacks and forklifts to move goods from dock to staging area.
- 5Flag damaged or hazardous items and route them to quarantine bins.
- 6Maintain a clean and hazard-free dock, sweeping and organizing each shift.
- 7Direct donor traffic during peak hours to prevent congestion and keep lines moving.
- 8Answer donor questions about donation guidelines and Goodwill's mission.
Requirements8
- 11+ year in retail, warehouse, or donation intake roles.
- 2Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and stand for 8-hour shifts.
- 3Forklift certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
- 4Valid driver's license for operating pallet jacks and trailer equipment.
- 5Basic math skills for counting donation bags and completing logs.
- 6Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- 7High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 8Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
