Respiratory Therapist, Trach Care & PRN
Overview
You will own respiratory care for Residents with tracheostomies at Pivot Rehabilitation Services in Dallas, Texas, delivering treatments that meet Federal, State, and local regulations. You will assess, treat, and document each Resident's condition in a skilled nursing setting, collaborating with the Director of Nurses and attending physicians. This PRN role gives you direct impact on patient outcomes with flexible scheduling. You bring 1+ year of long-term care experience and a current Texas license to a team that values diversity and inclusion.
What You'll Do8
- 1Observe, assess, and treat Residents with trachs per community policies and regulations, starting within your first week.
- 2Document assessments and all related treatments in the medical record for every shift.
- 3Consult with the Director of Nurses and attending physicians on changes in Resident tracheostomy care and condition.
- 4Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and safety.
- 5Identify and secure equipment and supplies for trach care, changing tubing and replaceable equipment weekly.
- 6Ensure a safe environment for the Resident population, following abuse prevention policies.
- 7Operate within the scope of your RT training and licensure, upholding care standards.
- 8Support patient/resident safety as a top priority across all interactions.
Requirements7
- 1Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and a current valid Texas license
- 21+ year of experience in a long-term or health care setting (preferred)
- 3Knowledge of current trach care treatments and dressings
- 4Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- 5Familiarity with Federal, State, and local regulations for trach care
- 6CPR certification (preferred)
