What You'll Do14
- 1Conducts physical examinations and diagnostic tests to evaluate lung capacity and blood gas levels
- 2Analyzes patient data to determine severity of respiratory conditions
- 3Consults with physicians to develop and modify patient treatment plans
- 4Administers oxygen therapy aerosol medications and chest physiotherapy
- 5Connects patients to ventilators and monitors responses
- 6Provides emergency respiratory care including external cardiac massage and artificial respiration
- 7Educates patients on respiratory equipment use and medication management
- 8Instructs patients on breathing exercises and lifestyle changes
- 9Sets up and operates therapeutic gas administration equipment and mechanical ventilators
- 10Ensures proper functioning and maintenance of respiratory therapy equipment
- 11Regularly checks and calibrates equipment to meet safety standards
- 12Works closely with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
- 13Communicates effectively with patients families and healthcare providers
- 14Documents patient progress and treatment outcomes in medical records
Requirements6
- 1Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
- 2At least 2 year(s) of experience in respiratory care
- 3Registered Respiratory Therapist certification
- 4Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field
- 5At least 5 year(s) of experience in respiratory care
- 6Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
