Overview

You will own seed management and field trial support for vegetable breeding programs, directly impacting the development of new varieties. You'll coordinate seed inventory, assemble trial packets, and lead GMO compliance using BOS database. Working with a collaborative team of breeders, you'll support trial activities across the U.S. and communicate with international breeders. This role offers hands-on experience in plant breeding and the opportunity to contribute to sustainable agriculture.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Manage the seed storage room, cataloging new entries and maintaining organization with BOS inventory system.
  • 2Assemble seed packets for trials and shipments based on breeder requests.
  • 3Conduct annual seed inventory reviews, coordinate seed backups, and update records.
  • 4Lead the routine GMO compliance process, collaborating with the Breeder and Operations team.
  • 5Maintain seed harvest and yield data in BOS, ensuring accurate records for breeding programs.
  • 6Assist with on-site and external trials, including trial layout, tissue sampling, plant digs, and data collection.
  • 7Monitor key breeding tasks like planting, pollination, and harvest, providing direct support to the Breeder.
  • 8Coordinate with international breeders on scheduling, trial preparation, and receiving seed.
  • 9Input breeding data and support the development of SOPs and training materials.
  • 10Travel to trial sites as needed to support breeding activities.

Requirements8

  • 1Bachelor of Science in agriculture or related field, preferred.
  • 21+ years of experience with seed inventory or general inventory management.
  • 3Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Outlook.
  • 4Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • 5Ability to follow and establish written procedures.
  • 6Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • 7Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • 8Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
