Overview
Consistently produce high-quality plant material for customers through training teamwork cooperation and innovation in a fulfilling work environment. Maintain growing area and crops to meet sanitary and organizational standards.
What You'll Do32
- 1Establish priorities and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision after training
- 2Perform daily walkthroughs to create and follow daily action plans
- 3Care for crops as trained and refer to adjust care sheets
- 4Record daily work on documentation sheets
- 5Accurately judge watering needs and irrigate crops using hoses booms sprinklers or automated devices
- 6Communicate status of assigned jobs with team members
- 7Mix and apply correct fertilizer at proper rate
- 8Keep work areas clean organized and sanitary using industrial power washers lifting trays pulling carts and tossing containers
- 9Identify insect disease or virus in crops and mix/apply chemicals or bio controls following safety requirements
- 10Mentor and train others to enable team success
- 11Contribute to company success by expressing new ideas that lower costs improve profits and efficiency
- 12Design and implement experiments benefiting individual team or company
- 13Develop personal goals and standards with team leaders
- 14Embrace training and self-education to become expert on crops and greenhouse equipment
- 15Promote safety culture by following all safety standards
- 16Report safety issues immediately
- 17Accurately use time clock to change jobs for cost tracking
- 18Lay down space or move plant material as required
- 19Discard plant material as assigned and collect soil samples for pH and EC analysis
- 20Utilize equipment only after required training
- 21Work independently and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision
- 22Adjust schedule seasonally based on department needs
- 23Maintain attendance with minimal disruption to department
- 24Use equipment safely and efficiently without compromising quality
- 25Participate in education programs and self-educate on new plants equipment or techniques
- 26Anticipate potential crises to avoid crop loss or shortage
- 27Recognize and solve crop and equipment problems
- 28Communicate with department leaders for timely resolutions
- 29Properly use clean and maintain all equipment as trained
- 30Troubleshoot repairs and report results to department leaders
- 31Use Argus system to water crops efficiently
- 32Apply PGR applications accurately using VPD and irrigation methods
Requirements11
- 1Previous horticultural background preferred
- 2High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3Effective communication skills in both spoken and written English
- 4Physical ability to stand walk bend ground and reach overhead pull carts weighing over 200 lbs lift minimum 25 lbs
- 5Pass respirator evaluation and fit test
- 6Exposure to sun high intensity lights wet environments with saturated clothing and footwear
- 7Ability to work in temperatures at or 10-20 degrees above outside or slightly above freezing
- 8Rolling unrolling using irrigation hoses and high-pressure hoses
- 9Reasonable accommodation available for disabilities
- 10Demonstrate ability to use equipment only after required training
- 11Proficiency with Argus system and VPD irrigation methods
