Registered Nurse PRN Nights - ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital
Overview
Own nursing care for patients with disabling injuries and illnesses at ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Mansfield, a hospital-level facility delivering services comparable to a med-surg unit. Manage complex needs: IV therapy, surgical and wound care, tracheostomy management, mobility support, and oversight of lines, tubes, and drains. Work on an interdisciplinary team with PT/OT/ST, physicians, case managers, and respiratory therapy. Average patient stay is 10-14 days, covering stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, cardiac, ortho, and complex medical conditions. This role offers higher acuity than typical post-acute settings, with 12-hour shifts and PRN flexibility requiring 4 shifts every 6 weeks. Earn a PRN base rate of $48/hr plus shift differentials up to $8/hr for weekend nights.
What You'll Do8
- 1Deliver hospital-level nursing care to patients with complex medical needs, including IV therapy, wound care, and tracheostomy management in a 12-hour shift model.
- 2Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team (PT/OT/ST, physicians, case managers) to drive optimal recovery for patients with stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, and cardiac conditions.
- 3Manage lines, tubes, and drains with precision, ensuring patient safety and infection control per hospital protocols.
- 4Document patient assessments and interventions accurately in the electronic health record, supporting continuity of care across a 10-14 day average stay.
- 5Respond to changes in patient condition with critical thinking, escalating to physicians as needed and adjusting care plans.
- 6Educate patients and families on recovery strategies, discharge planning, and home care needs, promoting independence and long-term outcomes.
- 7Administer medications and monitor vital signs for acutely ill patients, maintaining a calm and focused environment during night shifts.
- 8Adhere to BLS protocols and Texas RN practice standards in all clinical actions, contributing to a culture of safety.
Requirements6
- 11+ year of RN experience, with acute care experience preferred.
- 2Active RN License in the state of Texas.
- 3BLS certification required; CRRN certification preferred.
- 4Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (6pm-6am) with rotating weekends and holidays; PRN requirement of 4 shifts every 6 weeks, including 2 weekend shifts.
- 5Strong clinical skills in IV therapy, wound care, and tracheostomy management, as evidenced by prior experience.
- 6Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with a multidisciplinary rehab team.
