Registered Architect, Large Scale Projects & Historic Buildings
Overview
The role owns architectural design and project management for large scale educational, commercial, and historic projects in Philadelphia. You will collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure constructability and compliance. You will lead RFPs, contract reviews, and design development across building envelope systems and renovations. This position offers exposure to capital projects, long-range facilities planning, and governance initiatives that shape the built environment.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead the generation and distribution of RFPs to select 3rd party design firms and review proposals
- 2Manage contracts and approve invoices for design firms and coordinate design development plans
- 3Prepare bid specifications and IFBs and provide design support during bid and construction phases
- 4Create scope determination reports for Capital Improvement Projects covering surveys, conceptual designs, and building assessments
- 5Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure constructability and compliance
- 6Engage with Philadelphia L&I and other authorities to obtain necessary approvals
- 7Document and evaluate restoration and preservation strategies for historic buildings and building systems
- 8Support long-range facilities plans and capital investment strategies
- 9Assist in performance evaluations of consultants and contractors
- 10Respond to inquiries from staff and stakeholders regarding capital projects
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a NAAB accredited institution
- 2Architectural license in Pennsylvania
- 3Minimum of ten (10) years of professional design experience in educational and commercial buildings and facilities
- 4Knowledge of Building Codes (City of Philadelphia, IBC) and material codes (AISC, ACI)
- 5Experience with Building Permit Process in the City of Philadelphia
- 6Proficiency with Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD for technical drawings
- 7Strong communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams
- 8Ability to write technical documents and communicate complex concepts to decision makers
- 9Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Adobe Suite and SketchUp
