Refrigeration Piping Foreman, HVAC Construction & Field Leadership
Overview
HVAC project leadership role overseeing self-perform refrigeration piping and low voltage systems for commercial builds in the Greater Phoenix area. Own field execution, commissioning, and startup activities with hands-on leadership of a high‑skill crew. Collaborate with controls subcontractors and the project team to deliver on schedule and quality standards. This role blends field leadership, technical execution, and safety compliance to ensure the mechanical system runs as designed.
What You'll Do10
- 1Lead installation of refrigeration piping systems including brazing, pressure testing, evacuation, and charging to specification
- 2Manage crew productivity, layout, material staging, and daily manpower loading against the project schedule
- 3Ensure clean, code-compliant, inspection-ready workmanship and correct deficiencies before punchlist
- 4Install and terminate low voltage wiring and controls for HVAC equipment and verify functionality
- 5Troubleshoot low voltage faults during start-up and commissioning
- 6Coordinate and oversee controls subcontractor field sequencing and readiness against the mechanical schedule
- 7Quality-check controls subcontractor work for completeness and functional readiness
- 8Coordinate, schedule, and inspect the controls subcontractor in the field; route scope direction through the Project Manager
- 9Lead equipment start-ups and verify systems operate to design and manufacturer specifications
- 10Own the field commissioning process and maintain commissioning documentation and status across systems
Requirements10
- 1Journeyman level refrigeration and HVAC piping experience on commercial projects
- 2EPA Section 608 Universal certification required
- 3Demonstrated brazing proficiency
- 4Working knowledge of low voltage HVAC controls and wiring
- 5Ability to read and execute mechanical drawings and control diagrams
- 6Prior commissioning experience and familiar with commissioning software preferred
- 7Manufacturer start-up certifications (VRF, chiller, rooftop) preferred
- 8Experience coordinating controls or BAS subcontractors on new construction preferred
- 9Strong leadership, communication, and field organization skills
- 10Valid Arizona driver's license and clean driving record
