R&D Polymer Scientist, Emulsion Polymerization
Overview
You will own the formulation, synthesis, and scale-up of water-soluble polymers using emulsion polymerization for oil and gas applications. You will join a collaborative R&D team within Yoh's Life Sciences division, taking products from bench-scale to commercial manufacturing. What You'll Do10
- 1Design and synthesize water-soluble polymer formulations using emulsion polymerization techniques for oilfield and water treatment applications.
- 2Develop new polymer technologies and improve existing formulations to enhance performance and stability under harsh conditions.
- 3Conduct laboratory-scale experiments to evaluate polymer performance, stability, and processing characteristics.
- 4Lead formulation development from proof-of-concept through pilot production and commercial manufacturing scale-up.
- 5Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure successful technology transfer and commercialization of new products.
- 6Troubleshoot formulation, processing, and manufacturing challenges while developing practical, data-driven solutions.
- 7Maintain accurate laboratory documentation, technical reports, and experimental records.
- 8Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Technical Services, and Commercial teams to support product launches and customer needs.
- 9Stay current with emerging polymer technologies, raw materials, and industry trends to identify innovation opportunities.
- 10Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, process optimization, and cost reduction.
Requirements10
- 1Master's or Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline.
- 23+ years of industry experience in polymer research and development.
- 3Demonstrated experience with emulsion polymerization (required).
- 4Experience developing water-soluble polymer formulations for oilfield or industrial applications.
- 5Proven success in formulation development and laboratory research, not solely product testing or technical service.
- 6Experience supporting product scale-up from laboratory development to commercial manufacturing.
- 7Strong understanding of polymer synthesis, formulation science, and reaction chemistry.
- 8Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- 9Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical findings.
- 10Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Salary Insight
$90 - $120k per year
