R&D Grinding Technician II
Overview
Leading sample preparation efforts at CoorsTek Inc focusing on advanced ceramics manufacturing. This role owns the creation of test-ready specimens through precision machining and grinding. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support laboratory testing and material characterization. What You'll Do11
- 1Prepare ceramic and related material samples using Blanchard grinders and other equipment to meet customer specifications
- 2Operate sample preparation machinery to harvest and shape specimens for mechanical thermal and chemical testing
- 3Interpret work instructions and drawings to determine appropriate machining approaches
- 4Document sample preparation steps and communicate concerns about material condition or equipment limitations
- 5Perform basic troubleshooting on sample preparation equipment and resolve routine operational issues
- 6Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas while performing routine preventative maintenance
- 7Assist with data collection and technical reporting related to sample processing and equipment performance
- 8Collaborate with analysts and engineers to ensure proper sample preparation for downstream analysis
- 9Cross-train on related laboratory equipment and support department priorities
- 10Comply with safety standards and handle hazardous materials with proper PPE
- 11Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying workflow optimizations
Requirements8
- 15+ years operating grinders saws or other material removal equipment
- 2Blanchard grinders reciprocating surface grinders table saws geological saws experience preferred
- 3Knowledge of ceramic machining processes and brittle material handling
- 4Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and quality expectations
- 5Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work with diverse team members
- 6Certification such as CPC Card or AWS Certified preferred
- 7High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience
- 8Familiarity with G-Code programming is a plus
