Quoting Specialist, Heavy Equipment & Caterpillar
Overview
You will own the quoting process for product support at Thompson Machinery, a Caterpillar dealer serving Middle and West Tennessee and North Mississippi. You will create and maintain flat rates, standard jobs, and customer quote packages that keep service supervisors, parts departments, CSA teams, and sales moving. You will work with CPT and CCR proposals, and you will have access to CAT training and development to sharpen your skills. What You'll Do8
- 1Build and maintain flat rates and standard jobs for customer quote packages, ensuring service, parts, and sales teams have accurate labor and parts costs.
- 2Generate quotes that include labor hours and parts costs for maintenance and repair of equipment and components, with support for CPT and CCR proposals.
- 3Assist with Applied Failure Analysis on failed components, using CAT software tools like SIS and AS400 to document findings.
- 4Collect and enter customer data such as machine populations and operating hours into dealer and cost systems, keeping records current.
- 5Collaborate with service supervisors and parts departments to validate quote accuracy and align with customer expectations.
- 6Support the Customer Service Agreement (CSA) and Condition Monitoring teams with pricing and quote preparation.
- 7Learn and apply Caterpillar proprietary software, including Builder, SIS, and AS400, to streamline quoting processes.
- 8Respond to internal and external requests for quotes with a sense of urgency, prioritizing high-impact maintenance and repair jobs.
Requirements10
- 15+ years of hands-on equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting with construction equipment, including Caterpillar, Deere, Case, or Komatsu.
- 2High school diploma required; college or technical education preferred, with service experience through accredited technical schools or manufacturer training.
- 3Skilled in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Lotus Notes for data entry and reporting.
- 4Ability to learn Caterpillar proprietary software (Builder, SIS, AS400) quickly.
- 5Able to work flexible schedules, including overtime, nights, weekends, and on-call as required.
- 6Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and a strong customer service focus.
- 7Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical quotes to diverse audiences.
- 8Willing to travel less than 20% for meetings and training.
- 9Candidates with limited equipment experience but strong engine experience will be considered.
- 10Must have the personal drive for results and the ability to work independently.
