Purchasing Associate, Biotech Procurement
Overview
You own the daily flow of materials and services that keep manufacturing running, handling purchase orders, supplier follow-up, and inventory accuracy from day one. You work with internal teams and external suppliers in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment, using ERP systems like Ariba and Qlik to track and report on cost and delivery. What You'll Do8
- 1Execute daily procurement activities, including purchase order creation, order placement, lead time verification, and pricing validation with Ariba
- 2Build and maintain supplier relationships, assisting with pricing and contract discussions to meet cost and delivery targets
- 3Evaluate supplier performance on quality, reliability, and compliance, using Qlik to analyze delivery data
- 4Partner with internal teams to understand sourcing needs and support supplier selection for biotech product lines
- 5Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation, ensuring audit-ready files in ERP systems
- 6Resolve purchasing, supplier, and invoice issues within 48 hours, escalating systemic problems to management
- 7Track and report purchasing metrics, including cost savings and supplier scorecards, to drive continuous improvement
- 8Receive, stock, and issue inventory to support operations, participating in cycle counts to maintain 99% accuracy
Requirements7
- 15+ years of supply chain or purchasing experience, ideally in biotech, pharmaceutical, or medical device industries
- 2Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Ariba, or Qlik for procurement and analytics
- 3Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to improve productivity, such as automating report generation or data entry
- 4Strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
- 5Proven ability to manage multiple purchase orders simultaneously with high attention to detail
- 6Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and supplier negotiation
- 7Familiarity with regulatory requirements in GMP environments is a plus
