Overview
You will own psychiatric care for diverse patient populations in New York, from initial assessment through treatment planning and medication management. What You'll Do7
- 1Assess psychiatric patients through history, mental status exams, and physiological evaluations to set diagnoses and treatment plans.
- 2Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications under collaborative practice agreements and DEA regulations, ensuring safe administration and monitoring.
- 3Provide psychotherapy and counseling sessions using evidence-based approaches tailored to individual patient needs.
- 4Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals to build integrated care plans that address physical and mental health.
- 5Document all patient encounters in Epic or eClinicalWorks, including treatment plans and medication management.
- 6Participate in clinical research and quality improvement projects to advance psychiatric practices.
- 7Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and lifestyle changes to support recovery.
Requirements8
- 1DNP degree with specialization in psychiatry or behavioral health nursing.
- 2Current RN licensure with PMHNP certification or equivalent credential.
- 32+ years experience with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, developmental disabilities, or hospice and palliative medicine.
- 4Proficiency with Epic, Athenahealth, or other EMR/EHR systems for documentation.
- 5Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, medication protocols, and DEA regulations.
- 6Experience with telehealth platforms for remote psychiatric services.
- 7Familiarity with ICU or emergency medicine environments is advantageous.
- 8Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with HIPAA compliance.
