Property Accountant, Real Estate & Yardi
Overview
You will own day-to-day and monthly accounting for a multi-entity real estate portfolio in Washington, D.C. You will drive month-end close, reconcile balance sheets, and deliver accurate financial reports using Yardi. You will work with a collaborative team of operations and asset management professionals who rely on your precision. What You'll Do8
- 1Manage property-level accounting activities, including journal entries, account analysis, and general ledger maintenance for a portfolio of 30+ properties.
- 2Complete month-end close tasks on schedule, preparing supporting schedules that ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- 3Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies to keep financial records clean and audit-ready.
- 4Record accruals and other adjusting entries following GAAP and internal reporting timelines.
- 5Produce recurring financial statements and property reports for internal stakeholders and management review.
- 6Use Yardi to process transactions, review property data, and generate reports that support decision-making.
- 7Partner with operations and asset management teams to resolve accounting issues and clarify financial activity.
- 8Support audit requests by providing documentation on transactions, reconciliations, and account balances.
Requirements6
- 13+ years of property accounting experience in real estate operations.
- 2Hands-on proficiency with Yardi for accounting, reporting, and property-level financial management.
- 3Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures, including reconciliations and adjusting entries.
- 4Solid understanding of accrual accounting principles and general ledger maintenance.
- 5Ability to prepare accurate financial reports and analyze account activity with high attention to detail.
- 6Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
