Property Contract Accountant, Accounting & Payables
Overview
You will own day-to-day accounting for a property portfolio in Lee's Summit, Missouri, supporting timely and accurate financial reporting. You'll manage payables, receivables, reconciliations, and general ledger activity, working directly with Yardi and Excel to track property-level finances. This contract role offers a steady work environment and a chance to apply your accounting skills in asset management. You'll be a key part of the accounting team, ensuring records stay accurate and reports meet deadlines.
What You'll Do8
- 1Manage invoice processing, payment preparation, and vendor follow-up to maintain accurate accounts payable activity.
- 2Record cash receipts, apply payments to tenant accounts, and reconcile receivable balances to keep current.
- 3Prepare and post journal entries with full supporting documentation in line with accounting standards.
- 4Reconcile bank accounts and investigate variances to ensure cash and ledger accuracy.
- 5Review general ledger transactions, flag discrepancies, and support month-end close routines.
- 6Maintain accounting records in Yardi and support property-level financial tracking and reporting.
- 7Build and update Excel schedules with formulas to improve financial analysis accuracy.
- 8Assist with accounting process updates and data maintenance as needed.
Requirements6
- 1Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
- 2Ability to prepare journal entries and complete bank reconciliations accurately.
- 3Proficiency with Yardi, including property management and accounting functions.
- 4Strong Microsoft Excel skills including formulas; VBA experience preferred.
- 5Background in accounting support, clerk work, or property accounting in a structured setting.
- 6Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
